This is a fictional resort, so don’t try to call for reservations! The resort on St. Thomas had only been open for 6 months.  They were looking to attract either people who have never visited St. Thomas before, or people who have previously stayed at other hotels or resorts on the island.  I was tasked to create both a magazine print ad and a web banner ad for the client to advertise a new promotion.  I decided to advertise it as a high-end, luxury resort that would appeal to couples. 

To be effective the design needed to show the relaxing and romantic atmosphere offered at the resort.  I chose to use a large image as a focal point for the design and then used several images that were removed from their backgrounds to draw the eye to the special offers.  The design evokes a romantic getaway through the images and lighting, as well as relaxation from the headline of “Linger a little Longer…”.  I used shapes and hierarchy to draw the viewer’s eye down the page.  Contrast was used to make the text stand out and be easily readable.  I also chose the photo of the hat because the flower complimented the brand colors.  The web banner is simple, but eye catching, using high contrast text and images.
